Play.exe
A goofy survivor-like shoot'em up where you play as a lovely little malware going rampart in a personal computer.
Destroy the incoming files-monsters trying to boot you out of the PC. Collect their corrupted data and create malicious code to power yourself up. Some upgrades are scripts that give you more fire power, while some are straight up standalone program that breaks how things work. The more volatile it is, the more points you get. Careful, these scripts are not immune to your destruction either. Maybe you'll be clever enough to find a way to circumvent that problem
Survive as long as you can and make the system as broken as possible while you're at it. After all this is what you're made for. Have fun!
Made with my friend in 3 days for Patch Notes v1.0 Game Jam.

You're probably not gonna edit this game this far out, but there is a bug where after a particularly large shot of persisting bullets I couldn't shoot anymore? Like the shooting player animation would trigger but no bullets were firing.
Great game btw
A very good concept, thank you for this nice experience.
But the enemies spawning is way too constant, there should be less enemies until you get stronger. Perhaps make the max enemies in world linked to the amount of upgrades the player has to make the game gets harder over time but not too hard on the beginning (but if the player destroy an upgrade, it probably should't lower the cap as it would feel wrong I think).
Really fun, but I do have a couple gripes:
- There has to be a bit more of a "buffer period" when the upgrades come up because too often I'll be firing away and accidentally place down an upgrade I didn't want
- The player's attack speed starting out is really sluggish without upgrades (and still is even with them). The enemy heath and density is definitely enough to keep a base firing boost speed in check
- The way you place down upgrades is cool and could definitely open up some base builder-esque strategies, but they do make piercing miserable to use (maybe have them not take damage from projectiles that have already pierced enemies?)
- As much as I love it, the multi projectile upgrade makes damage obsolete. Damage as a whole just needs a buff, since one upgrade level doesn't make it easier to kill either of the most common enemies
Don't get me wrong: This game is still really fun and has some cool upgrades (like the bullets just hanging there after hitting something). Honestly, most of this critical feedback was specifically because this concept is worth revisiting.
No these are very valuable and constructive feedbacks and they're very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
You're welcome :)
